Sidi Kaouki

After our trouble finding open and functioning campsites we were delighted to find a cheap and cheerful one in the tiny fishing town of Sidi Kaouki. It was basically just a piece of land with a tap, but for £2.40 a night it was just perfect…and right on the beach

Despite being made up of only 1 street, and a few houses, this little place had a nice buzz about it due to the many surfers who travel here for the waves.

And the horse riding.

Unfortunately for me, a horse got too close and I had a bad allergic reaction in a cafe. Luckily I take my antihistamines everywhere and I live to tell the tale.

We stayed in Sidi Kaouki several nights.

We made friends with the local animals

Everytime we went to the shop for fresh bread we got chased by the donkeys who clearly wanted it for their own lunch.

Sometimes this sea fret rolled in and made everything feel very moody and mysterious.

I came down with a bad cold and throat infection. We stayed at the campsite for another 3 nights so I could rest and shake it off.

I’m feeling much better now.

After a total of 6 nights in this little place it started to feel like home!
