Rachel and Harry’s Wedding

From Galway I drove up to Northern Ireland

On route I stopped at a sweet little house owned by Pat and Grainne. They open up their garden to van-lifers offering a place to park up, refill water, pick vegetables from their poly tunnel and a communal kitchen where there is also a washing machine, all for a donation

My first night in Northern Ireland was parked up on the most amazing beach which I had pretty much all to myself

The next day I wanted to visit The Giants Causeway. To avoid the huge carpark costs I did an 11km round walk along the cliff to get there

The views along the way were spectacular

The Giants Causeway itself was very busy but definitely worth seeing

I asked Erin how these rocks are formed

“Magma gets intruded in between sedimentary layers then cools from the top and bottom, as it cools and contracts it cracks and hexagons are the most efficient shape to crack in” – Dr Scott

That evening I met up with Rachel and Harry and some of their friends for a sunset surf

I spent the Friday helping them get the tipi ready, and joining them and their families for dinner

In the morning I got to be with Rachel, her mum and her sister whilst they got ready

They had their ceremony in a field, overlooking their favourite surfing beach

And a fabulous party in her mum’s garden

A great night!

Rachel has passed on lots of her table decorations to Erin and is very happy they will be used again

I stayed in Rachel’s mum’s garden for another night and then headed to Belfast to see my friend Steph from University. She cooked me a delicious dinner and we had a lovely catch up.

It’s been a fantastic month in Ireland

Now to head back to England and start work in the woods!
