Seville

Home to one of the largest cathedrals in the world

The queues to get in were very long so I headed to Iglesia Colegial del Divino Salvador, a church round the corner where I could buy a combined ticket. This meant I got to skip the queues for the cathedral and see both places for the price of one

Although quite plain on the outside Iglesia Colegial del Divino Salvador was full of ornate, life size statues like these

Back to the cathedral

The foundations date back to a mosque built in the 12th Century when Seville was still under Moorish rule

It was converted into a church in the 13th Century

It’s very grand inside

Christopher Columbas is in here

I went up the tower

It has ramps rather than stairs because the Imam used to ride his donkey up to do the call to prayer

Now it’s a bell tower

There were great views of the city from the top

You can find the Arabic influence in the design all over the city

I wandered around the narrow streets of Alfalfa , the old town district known for vintage tapas and wine bars

So I had wine and tapas
