After a quick detour to the French hardware store Leroy Merlin, to pick up a part I needed to fix my plumbing, I continued my journey south.

I was heading to a vineyard I had heard was van friendly and did wine tasting tours. When I arrived it was closed. I drove a little further and found a tiny campsite on a farm.

It is a very happy accident that I ended up here. The owners are so lovely. They have done my washing for me, offered me food and invited me to join them for a drink of the local ‘Pineau’ a mix of Cognac and wine. All for €9 a night. I usually find free spots to wild camp, but it’s nice to stay at places like this every now and then.

I have donkeys for neighbours

I went for a morning cycle through the vineyards

And found fields of sunflowers
