On my way to Nantes I passed some hitchhikers. They looked friendly. I picked them up and drove them into the centre of St Malo.

The place I’d planned to park in Nantes was full. Just as I was starting to think about giving up and carrying on my journey, a space appeared on the side of the road. It wasn’t the nicest spot, but it was free and felt safe enough.

I took the boat bus across the river and into the centre

After a short walk I stumbled across this huge mechanical elephant

Which then went for a walk
The buskers were great

…until they were interrupted by a huge anti-vaccine and anti-restrictions demonstration

Over all Nantes was hot, sticky and crowded. I needed cool and calm, so I headed to the Basillica – I ended up at somebody’s wedding

I decided to move on from my industrial estate park up that evening and find somewhere more pleasant to spend the night.
I found this little spot out in the countryside

It was basically someone’s garden/allotment. So peaceful. €8 for the night – worth it.
