Festivities

We had a crazy drive to Imsouane. Google maps took us on a ridiculous route that was an off road track most of the way. Rachel and Harry’s van started smoking from the brakes and Harry was suffering from a stomach bug. We took it slow and kept stopping to let their brakes cool down. What should have been a 3hr drive turned into a 7hr drive, but we made it safe and sound in the end.

We met our Christmas companions

Craig and Aimee
@wearekingingit
Chloe and James
@takeadriveonthewildside
Luca and Bianca
@parabundos

We all parked in a little beachside car park where we can stay for 80p a day

Christmas day was rainy but we didn’t let it dampen our spirits

Luckily Chloe and James have an awning

We all helped to prep the food and cooked a different bit each in our own vans

Then we feasted

And partied into the night

Since Christmas we have been enjoying hot sunny days

I have been learning to surf alongside Chloe, James and Aimee. Rachel, Harry, Craig and Paul are all already surfers and go much further out to catch the big waves.

I actually managed to stand up!

We have been making many car park tagines

It’s a great way to cook communally and save our gas

Marco the car park guard gives us tips and makes sure we’re doing it like true Moroccans

We visted the local dog rescue charity

And accompanied Ben, the charity volunteer, on one of the daily treks with 15 of the dogs

We have a lovely dog who lives in our carpark. We call him Elvis because he’s king of the strays. He has learnt to open the camping chairs and make himself comfortable

He follows us everywhere and even comes with us to the beach for a swim

He is very protective. One night a random drunk person was knocking on my van at 4am and Elvis jumped to the rescue, barking and chasing them away.

He is very sweet and loves all the petting and attention he is getting from us.

We had a great New Years eve celebrations last night

And a joyous New Years day sea swim this morning

I can’t believe we’ve already been here in Imsouane for 9 days. We’re in no rush to leave! The surf forecast is looking good.

As you may have guessed.. the border closure was extended again, this time until the 31st Jan. We have a new ferry booked for 2nd Feb.
