Learning Portuguese

I’ve now been in Portugal for over 1 month! (With a little trip to Galicia inbetween)

Here are some of the key phrases I’ve learnt which help me get by

1. Bom dia – Good day
2. Olá – Hello
3. Por favor – Please
4. Obrigada – Thank you
5. De nada – You’re welcome
6. Desculpa – Sorry
7. Sou Inglês – I’m English
8. Não falo Português – I don’t speak Portuguese
9. Sim/não – Yes/no
10. Onde fica o banheiro? – Where is the bathroom?
11. Muito bom – very good
12. Um cafe – A coffee
13. Vinho – Wine
14. Aqua – Water
15. A conta por favor – The bill please
16. Quanto custa? – How much?
17. Pronto – Ready
18. Vamos – Let’s go
19. Por quê? — Why?

The accent and pronunciation is very tricky, but I’m getting there. People now seem to understand me!
