After our day at the nature reserve we headed to the city of Trapani. We enjoyed an evening of tasting Sicilian wines and eating pizza
The next day, in search of ancient history and mountain top views, we drove up 751m to the town of Erice – named after the Greek hero Eryx. The whole mountain top was within a cloud and we could hardly see any of the monuments let alone the views
We were the only ones there and it was very creepy
We headed down the mountain but the weather wasn’t much better so we had a cosy afternoon in the van playing cards and eating snacks
That evening we went to San Vito Lo Capo, a small seaside town surrounded by mountains and olive groves
When we woke up it was my birthday!! Aimee had brought me some treats from England, and cards and presents from my family
In between the odd torrential rain shower we had lovely sunshine
We explored
Ate connoli
Drank prosecco
And went out for dinner.
We were offered catch of the day to take home by a local fisherman which we politely declined
We enjoed the Zingaro nature reserve so much last time we decided to go back, this time to the north entrance to discover new paths
And more secret coves
We had this beach to ourselves
We were completely sheltered from the wind and had what felt like a hot summers day
We ended Aimee’s trip with another day in Palermo
Having ice cream for breakfast
Playing cards
Earing Arancini
And drinking beer in the sun
It’s been a fabulous week and I will miss Aimee very much
(Thanks to Aimee for lots of the photos featuring in the last two blogs)
