The Sahara Desert

What a crazy feeling it is when you drive your tiny home into the desert!

As usual we were welcomed, and offered mint tea, by everyone who passed by

These boys on their bikes enjoyed a photoshoot

We could only take our vans so far

We left them at a campsite in the rocky desert

Then booked a driver to take us by 4×4 the rest of the way

Aziz could probably compete in a rally driving race. It was a complete rollercoaster ride bouncing around and speeding over the dunes, sometimes reaching 60kmph

We stopped at an oasis for lunch

Then arrived at our very strange and surreal desert camp

And went on a walk in the dunes

It is one of the most magical places I’ve ever been

We sat on top of the tallest dune to watch the sunset

Went back to camp to eat dinner

And then spent the evening outside by the fire, gazing at the amazingly clear stars

Harry and I had a go at a bit of astrophotography. These were my first attempts…

I’m only just learning to use all the settings on my fancy camera. After about an hour of trying I managed to capture these

I was quite proud of them as it was a big improvement from the first attempts

Then I saw Harry’s pictures…

I still have a long way to go, but practice makes perfect and I won’t give up!

We got up early to watch the sunrise and then headed back to the vans. Overall a fabulous experience. We feel very very lucky.
