After coming down from the mountains I met back up with Rachel and Harry in Taroudant

It’s a small city, known as ‘Little Marrakech’ as it was built based on the same design back in the 11th Century

We had a walk around the ancient walls

And shopped in the souks

Taroudant is a centre for trading and selling produce from the mountains and surrounding farm land
We asked a date seller for some directions and he ended up giving us a tour of the city, including his favourite bakery

The whole day Harry was complaining of tooth ache. When we got back to the vans, Rachel and I had a look. It seemed as though a wisdom tooth was coming up but growing sideways. We decided he better get checked at the dentist. It was already 4pm. He managed to get seen within the hour and our concerns were confirmed

By this point Harry was in serious pain. The dentist said he couldn’t do the operation without a more detailed x-ray which he could only get in Agadir, a 1.5 hour drive away. If we got the x-ray to him before 12 noon he would do the operation that day. We set off before 7am. I drove, as Harry was in no state to drive himself. We arrived just before opening time. We had no idea how long we would have to wait for the x-ray and whether we’d be able to get it back to the other dentist by 12, so Rachel asked if they would just do the extraction there. They had a 1 month waiting list. Back to plan A. We got to Taradount at 11.30 with the x-ray, just in time! Harry waited and waited, he was told yes they would do the extraction that day. After a 2hr wait he went in, only to be told actually they couldn’t do it after all. The x-ray showed that the nerve was too close to the tooth and needed a specialist… who was in Agadir.
Overall we had 8 dentist visits, 9 hours of driving to and from Agadir and a lot of stress in 52 hours. But the tooth was taken out successfully and Harry feels so much better.
In the end he got it done quicker and for less money than if he’d gone with the nhs in England.
